Kokam

The Kokam tree is said to be originated in the Western Ghats of India and has been an integral part of the cuisine. The small fruit, ranging from red to purple in color, depending on the soil and the level of ripeness, has a tangy and refreshing taste. The fruits are often dried up and soaked in water to extract a dark red syrup which is used in refreshments.

Kokam oil and butter are also used in beauty products and are great for the skin.
